Many Saints and also many Popes in the history of the Church have dedicated themselves to writing some points to help parents educate their children. The founder of the Heralds of the Gospel, Msgr. João Scognamiglio Clá Dias, made a summary of some of these points in a homily, calling them a decalogue for the education of children, as they contain some of the principle points for the good education of children.

But why is this important? And how does it affect family life?

As Saint Augustine says, “peace is the tranquility of order”. In this decalogue, Msgr. João Clá teaches us a fundamental point for there to be order in the family: to know how to educate children! That is, do you want peace at home?! Learn to establish order, first of all by sanctifying yourself, helping your spouse to sanctify himself/herself and educating your children in holiness. 

In the 10 articles below, we will examine these ten commandments for the education of children, starting with the “First Commandment” and following it, below, with an excerpt from Msgr. João’s biography of Dona Lucilia that highlights an example of this commandment taken to its plenitude.
