Msgr. João Scognamiglio Clá Dias, Dona Lucilia, p. 175
Until the end of her life, the characteristics of an ideal mother shone in Dona Lucilia’s countenance and demeanour. Through a long process of formation—the work of her lifetime—she prepared her children to correspond generously to the sanctifying action of God’s Church.
She taught them to understand and love the fundamental importance of courtesy and sweetness in human interactions. This is the substance of friendship, which would not be authentic without love of God, followed by affability, patience and compassion.
Msgr. João Scognamiglio Clá Dias, Dona Lucilia, p. 191-192

What effect would they have on him, far removed from the family setting? Filled with such thoughts, Dona Lucilia’s maternal heart turned with deeper devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, Whose mercy never fails those who confidently request His protection.
